I had a Venus DS3 enclosure giving me problems. The drive itself was fine. Oddly the other identical enclosure wasn't affected
1. Turn on enclosure (note: hard drive doesn't have to be in it)
2. Install the downloaded CyUSB driver. (note: I had to force Windows to install it manually)
3. Run primer.exe
4. Turn off enclosure
5. Turn on enclosure which programmed the ROM
6. Put back the hard drive, works as if I wasn't running during a thunderstorm.
didn't have to restart the computer
works for me, may not for you

so I didn't need to spend $40 for a new enclosure.
me needs a UPS.
